Fact Check

Has Congress Party Sent Its Workers to Create a Fake News about Seaplanes in Gujarat?

Congress Party shared a video from its Twitter handle to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the promise of Seaplanes that he made to people of Gujarat before the Gujarat Assembly elections.

Here are the Facts
  • The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has reportedly identified the sites in the states of Gujarat, Odisha, Maharashtra, Assam and Andhra Pradesh where water aerodromes would be developed.
  • Ministry of Civil Aviation on August 10, 2018, has already approved the proposal to build three water aerodromes in three sites of Chilika Lake in Odisha, Sardar Sarovar Dam and Sabarmati River Front in Gujarat in the first phase. (Screenshot of the news is attached below)
  • This proposal will pave the way for seaplanes operations not only in Gujarat as promised by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi but also in other parts of the country.

Therefore, the above news shared from the Congress handle is fake. The work on the seaplanes operation in Gujarat is an ongoing project as explained above.

Is Congress Generating a Fake News

Importantly, Congress Party shared this fake news video, which was based on a conversation video between the two young men. We did a background check on both of them and interestingly found that both of them are Congress workers.
