With Lok Sabha elections coming closer, on one hand political parties those especially in Mahagathbandhan are busy peddling lies, on the other hand, some sections of media are busy in sensationalising the news to somehow create the negative impression against the current government.
The senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai tweeted the following on January 30, 2019. In his tweet, he said that he is breaking news that the Centre will bring full budget on February 01, 2019 and there will be no vote on account or interim budget.
As for the junking of convention, here are the facts.
- Government has already advanced the date of the budget to February 01, a common knowledge
- This does away with the process of ‘Vote on Account’ which used to be an interim budget sort of a measure to keep the finances of the country going until the budget is passed. This resulted in wastage of financial resources of the country.
- Advancing the date ensures the quality in government expenditure.
So, what is junking of convention for the senior journalist of India, is actually an economic reform by the Modi government which aims at saving the financial resources of the country.
