The false narrative of ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ boomeranged today on Rahul Gandhi when he had to admit in Supreme Court that he made the false statement of Chowkidar Chor Hai and had to regret over such a comment.
Campaigning for Lok Sabha election in his constituency Amethi, Congress President had reportedly said, “Now the Supreme Court has made it clear that ‘chowkidarji’ (watchman) has committed a theft… I want to directly challenge that the Supreme Court has stated that you have indulged in corruption.”
He made this statement after Supreme Court had allowed for the consideration of some more fresh documents in a review petition to its earlier judgment on Rafale deal. It is to be noted that Supreme Court had not observed anything except for it allowed the cognizance of some more documents in the case.
In the meanwhile, BJP’s Meenakshi Lekhi had accused Rahul Gandhi of putting words in the mouth of the Supreme Court and had sued him for contempt. Replying to this contempt plea, Rahul Gandhi has now accepted in the Supreme Court that he made such a statement in the ‘’heat of political campaigning’’.
This is not the first time that Rahul Gandhi has lied about Rafale deal. We bring to you a series of lies that Rahul Gandhi has manufactured often putting words into the mouth of others.
Rahul Gandhi had met former Defence Minister and late Manohar Parrikar in Goa on the pretext of knowing about his deteriorating health. But, after this meeting, Rahul Gandhi in a rally at Kochi had said, “Friends, the ex-defence minister Mr Parrikar clearly stated that he has nothing to do with the new deal that was orchestrated by Mr Narendra Modi to benefit Anil Ambani.”
That was a new low in Indian politics and a brazen lie by Mr Gandhi. Notably, Mr Parrikar had immediately demolished all claims of Rahul Gandhi.
Feeling distressed by such a blatant lie by Rahul Gandhi, a disappointed Manohar Parrikar (read his letter here) had said, “I feel let down that you have used this visit for your petty political gains. In the 05 minutes you spent with me, neither did you mention anything about Rafale, not did we discuss anything about/related to it. Nothing whatsoever about Rafale was even mentioned in your meeting with me.”
To weave a false narrative on Rafale, Rahul Gandhi has even misquoted the former French President. Congress President last year had said that ex-French President Hollande called PM Modi a thief whereas Hollande has never used any derogatory words for the Prime Minister ever.
On this issue again, Rahul Gandhi was totally discredited after Hollande’s statement to Agency France Press was reported in the evening of September 22, 2018. According to the report, Mr Hollande claimed that he’s unaware of any pressure to choose Reliance and that “only Dassault can answer.”
In Lok Sabha, Congress President Rahul Gandhi had claimed that French President Emmanuel Macron had told him that there was no ‘secrecy’ clause in the Rafale deal preventing India from revealing the price of the fighter jets and other details.
The French government following this claim of Rahul Gandhi had immediately clarified with a statement that details couldn’t be made public. Here is the French statement which busted the lie of Rahul Gandhi about any secrecy clause being a part of the IGA between India and France.

The French President Emmanuel Macron had further himself busted the claims of Rahul Gandhi in an interview about ‘no secrecy clause in the deal’.
Apart from the above instances related to Rafale deal, here is yet another instance of Rahul Gandhi lying about SC/ST Act. He had claimed that Modi government had scrapped the SC/ST act. This was a lie potential enough to incite hatred within the society and even cause violence. But, this didn’t deter the Congress President.
In reality, Modi government has rather strengthened the SC/ST act. It is the order of the Supreme Court which had reportedly amended some parts of SC/ST Act. As always, Rahul Gandhi had tried to use this opportunity to spread another falsehood. It should also be noted that Modi government had been quick to move a review petition against this order.
After a series of lies, it is no wonder that Rahul Gandhi in the highest court of the land has to admit that he is a liar. He has himself punctured the bubble of ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ that he has been creating for some time now.
